Since the 1800’s, bingo has been employed in the educational process as a means by which children can learn a variety of different subjects, chief among them the subject of math.
Bingo’s original form is still alive:
Yes, indeed! In fact, it’s almost 500 years old and still being played in its native Italy.
Buzzword Bingo:
A rather risqué variation of the game, many an office executive has partaken in this daring game of bingo that is played while attending company meetings. The risk lies in that, should any of the players win, the winner must yell bingo, quite clearly an office faux-pas! The boss probably won’t take kindly to being interrupted halfway through a speech!
Roadkill Bingo:
Ghastly as it may sound, it helped US soldiers in Irak during Desert Storm pass the time on their cross-dessert commutes. Some people found it so morbidly charming that they actually have manufactured a domestic version of it. I’ve heard tell of some people who give it to their kids to play while on long interstate drives.
Xmas Bingo:
Each player brings three presents. A card is given to each player with 40 numbers. With each number called and checked, the player with the checked number picks a present from the “pool”. Play continues until all the presents have been awarded.
